Well very christian of you.
>I can sympathise with someone getting in a difficult situation making bad life choices etc without judging them. To me sympathy is not something thats doled out depending on wether I approve or not of the actions that got the person in that situation.
>George was ill (lifetime alcoholic) Gary Glitter is ill (he's a paedophile) they both get sympathy..

>>No you've dodged the question; it wasn't about whether he deserves the death penalty or not (personally I agree with you that the act doesn't deserve it). The essence is whethr you sympathise with him getting himself into this position. Both guys were talents (The number of people who used to say to me "Oh, you've really GOT to go to a Gary Glitter gig - it's such a gas/hoot/buzz" - whatever) and both have thrown their lives away. One did it just to himself, the other took kids with him. Both have had a wake-up call - Best a new liver, Glitter 2 years in jail.
