>Human actually
Come off it, Nick. What we deem as "human" usually means "christian". Humans are animals after all (despite our intellect) and as such can be quite callous as to the plight of another. It's only modern religion that has instilled in us these concepts of "humanity". What's "human" to us would be very different to an ancient Roman, or Hun, or Mongol, for instance. Ghenghis Khan had a captured enemy chief boiled alive and probably felt no remourse. The Romans crucified thousands "pour encourager les autres".

>>>I can sympathise with someone getting in a difficult situation making bad life choices etc without judging them. To me sympathy is not something thats doled out depending on wether I approve or not of the actions that got the person in that situation.
>>>George was ill (lifetime alcoholic) Gary Glitter is ill (he's a paedophile) they both get sympathy..
