Hi tracy,
>In my personal opinion no, in fact until recently Mormons wanted to be referred to as saints, not christians. From the name Latter-Day Saints. Christians refers to followers of Jesus Christ of the Bible. For almost two thousand years it has been a clear reference to the historical Jesus Christ of the New Testament. The Mormon god of this world was a man who became a god. This is what the celestial marriage and the temple vows are about. Latter-Day Saints men strive for exaltation so they will one day become gods themselves. Their wives will be the mother goddesses of their world and with their husband will produce the population of their world. This is the Mormon doctrine of eternal progression.

http://www.carm.org/lds/compare.htmI've seen a few other comparisons via google, and sure it is clear that there is a huge gap between mormons and catholics. The gap is quite big, if you compare it to the differences between other bible related religions like protestance, (Dutch) reformed, etc. But it begs the question: What is the definition of cristianity?
FWIW, from what I've seen the mormons define a way more realistic view on the bible.
