>>Well:
>>- The WHOLE of the Somme campaign for a bloody big first!
>>- The Battle of Paschendale
>>- the Battle of Ypres (in fact - any damn battle in that war!!!)
>>- The Battle of Spion Kopje (Boer War)
>>- The fall of Singapore to the Japanese (to my mind the men would have been better off fighting on to the bitter end than how it turned out. Who knows - they may even have prevailed)
>>- (I think I've heard in the past) The failure to press on with the BEF in WW II to protect Norway (as I recall) and maybe halt Germany in its tracks
>>
>>Many more that I haven't the time to think of at the moment.

I don't know much about the American War of Toadying-up-to-the-French-to-Beat-the-British, and I haven't seen Mel Gibson's "The Patriot". It doesn't surprise me that there were blunders there too. Hell it makes me sick to think of the squandering of life in WW I without thinking of dressing the men up in red, standing them in a line, shoulder-to-shoulder, so the enemy can't miss, then putting a big white X on the front of every men (their equipment straps) to aid the enemy's aim.

Tell me about it.

- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
