I can only speak for myself, but back when I had to wear a suit and tie, I was less productive. I've mentioned here before how I can't stand anything to touch my throat (why I can't wear crew neck shirts). Ties just about drove me out of my mind. I spent as much time obsessing on my throat as I did working.
