I've been saying for years that the company should probably fire all of us and hire people they trust.

>We have a no cell-phone rule in our corporation. As I am a single parent and sometimes at my desk and sometimes out on a call (cell phones are ok when out of the office of course since that is the only means of our company reaching us) I leave my cell-phone on all the time so my daughter can reach me. We have a no eating at the desk rule as well but I typically eat lunch at my desk so I can work while eating. When either rule is enforced (if and when), then I will not allow the company to phone me on my cell phone when out of the office (In fact, as far as they know I would not have one unless they provided it) and I will leave the office to eat for the prescribed amount of time everyday. I am a strong believer in personal responsibility and judgment. If the person is not capable of using discretion and good judgment, then they shouldn't be an employee expected to work independently and they should be working instead in the type of job where the employee clocks in/out and is under
> direct supervision constantly.

>>>Toward this end we seek professionals who can think creatively and get the job done without supervision. We do not allow smoking in the office. We do not eat at our desks. We frown on personal phone calls. And we adhere to an office professional dress code. The culture here is generally pretty grown up and serious. However, at the same time we have a great group of talented people and very low staff turnover. The two members of the existing computer team have over fourteen years combined employment here.

>>When I was 'fishing' for my candidates here, I had to 'insinuate' traveling abroad, great oportunities, friendly working environment and so & so ...
