Why do some organizations (mine is one) require women to wear pantyhose with skirts and dresses? Even long skirts and dresses. Also, open toed shoes are typically not allowed for safety purposes, but in an office enviroment what's up with that? It is much easier to find a comfortable pair of mens shoes that can be worn with slacks than it is to find an equally comfortable pair of womens shoes to wear with slacks. I've often considered wearing mens shoes with slacks for comfort and then waiting to see if anyone complains :o) Financial institutions have unbelievable dress codes. Certain positions required suits and ties still in the organization I work for. Everyone (IT included) is required to wear business casual and we have dress down Fridays (unless customer face-to-face contact is expected). Dress down Fridays have a dress code also but everyone tends to stretch it to the limit. Makes me miss the days I worked for the government. I wore jeans everyday!

>Even the British civil service (the employer who used to have all its males in black jacket, pin-striped trousers, bowler hat and brolly) announced a few months ago that men no longer need wear ties. More and more TV persnoalities are appearing without tie.

>I've always thought that compelling men to wear ties should be up before the sex discrimination act. Why should women get away with wearing cotton skirts and T-shirts in the summer but men still have to wear a shirt and tie? UIt should work both ways (and Im NOT promulgating men wearing skirts - but ifd they should want to wear a sarong - up to them)
