>Well, had I put a tie on, I'd surely feel I was lying. I've worn one only when forced by rules of the office (i.e. as a conscript and when I played a significant role at two weddings). Other than that, if I put a suit or tie on, I'd feel like an impostor, like pretending I'm someone else, not who I really am.

My contacts there know that I don't dress that way when I work out of my office (and since they don't make the rules, they envy me!). I certainly don't view that as being an impostor in any way, and I doubt that many would either.
