>>Here you are either deliberately lying or simply being naive. It was NOT a 'harmless' comment. Jean deliberately put those words in that one reply to me in his signature, to tease, derogate and provoke me (and the provocation has worked). There is a history and you know at least part of that history. Remember you asked the community here for a solution to a technical problem? One of the replies was from Jean. That's a good thing and it was a good answer. But Jean answered in Dutch. I reacted and told Jean to answer in future in English even to a Belgian. I also motivated it: because others here want to learn from the thread. It was a normal request to Jean that wasn't appreciated by him. He reacted with an insulting, derogatory remark. I told him this and he has not once offered the slightest apology.

Hope not, because it would break a useful thread.

Here you are right. Thanks for correcting this and sorry to Gregory.

>As it was on thanksgiving day and it was a countryman i replied. I found it rather silly at the time to do so in English. Ok with hindsight i might as well have replied via a personal message.

'Schoolteacher' is your interpretation. Let me freely translate into English what you regard to be the words of a scholteacher:

Dutch: Het is niet echt beleefd om hier op het Nederlands over te gaan. De anderen in de wereld willen graag meeleren. Dus...

English: It is not really polite to reply in Dutch to a question that started in English. Others in the world are eager to learn from the thread. So...

Are these the words of a schoolteacher? No, it are simply the words of another communitymember. After having made that reply in Dutch, I continued in English with an additional tip concerning the technical question that Hans Vangansbeke had posted.

The words you chose for your reply were derogatory.

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
