No, I surely did NOT!
After reading this and Jos' I went to my dictionary and found that "dike" and "dyke" refer to both a ditch/wall to hold back water OR a lesbian.
I was pretty sure that "dike" referred to a lesbian, but I had no intention of making that 'connection'.
We all remember the story of the kid who 'saved Holland' by putting his fuinger in a dike/dyke and I was thinking that perhaps the Belgians had some derogatory connotation in that regard, since PeterV called it derogatory.
That's all. Truly. As I think you surmised.
