Like you say, you can trap the close attempt in QueryUnload() method. Therein, you can use GetNextModified() to test your table for uncommitted changes, and give the user the option to abandon.

I can get control in QueryUnload (and save the data in the form if it passes all the validations or throw it away if it fails the validations).
