thanks mike for your help. you've given me something to think about, but at this point i think that it is actually easier for the user to tab over to enter the prices for the different services rather than enter 1 charge, then save, then another, then save, etc.
our pricing scheme is service oriented and isn't always the same. For example, we charge for travel at an hourly rate. that is on top of a service charge for whatever servce we are performing. the travel charge changes based on location of the person/business we are travelling to. if it was all standardized and i could put all the travel destinations into one table with the charge (boy what a job that would be!), then i think having it the other way would be better.
