Run it, check the temp settings in there...It shows the temps in realtime during load, and you can set it up to show your prefered temp. ( cpu in your case ) in the systray. Also, it generally recognizes your motherboard and gives you visual clues if one of the temps goes nuts ( i.e you'll see it in a scary red color instead of the relaxing blue ).

If all temps seem ok and you are still having sudden shutdowns, then you should check your bios to see if the switchoff temp is not too low.

Last, does it happen by any chance when running stuff from the cd/dvd? If yes, it may well be a weak psu. A good psu, 350W and up, can be expensive, so this one should be your last one to check...

>I have been having a problem with my home computer spontaneously shutting down and it is becoming more frequent. Computer will just turn off, no BSOD, no software warnings, just turns off like the power switch was thrown or power cord pulled out of the wall. Machine is ~2 years old, Asus mother board, AMD processor, Win XP Pro SP2 OS. All power options have been turned off to exclude them. Fans were checked to be running, air ports were cleaned and internal parts were cleaned of dust, etc.

Why do programs stop working correctly as soon as you leave the Fox?
