Using VNC or pcAnyWhere, you log directly into your machine, there isn't some 3rd part server sitting around somewhere with your username/ip/password sitting on it. What if GoToMyPc has a rouge employee or a hacker someday? Plus VNC is free. I prefer pcAnyWhere because it has more features (file transfer ability, etc) and I like the mouse-movements better too...but hey - for free VNC works fine.

>>>Yes, other than the cost ($25/month or $242/year) the intermediate server farm would be my biggest concern as well. A rogue employee would be disastrous, would basically ruin that company as I see it.
>>>
>>>I can see why they do it that way though, it lets them offer "smart" client browser options without having to install a web server with similar client support on the host PC itself. I imagine there's steady heartbeat traffic between each host and the GoToMyPC servers and all traffic is initiated from the host via HTTP which lets them get through firewalls without reconfiguration.

>>True, nice to be able to run yer desktop from a browser....but hey you can do that with VNC.

yepper...you need to have a browser that supports java - but it works quite nice.
In browser do this:
http://pc-name:5800
...on the server there is an option called "Enable Java Viewer"...be sure it's selected.
Works quite well too...
