I've had occasion to use it as a "user".
It was fine. It does require a download to run, as I remember it. Some kinda Java "applet" I think.

Then there's GoToMeeting, which allows a group to talk and 'see' a common screen. Worked nicely too for our purposes.

GoToMyPC supports MAC, I seem to remember, while GoToMeeting doesn't (well, didn't 6-7 months ago).
