I disagree. It is probably more an issue of personal taste. Not all things in America are garish and tacky so how can it be a case of the 'pot calling the kettle black?' Two of my favorite castles in Germany are Schloss Linderhof and Schloss Neuschwanstein. Both are completely different. While Neuschwanstein is sparse and beautiful, Linderhof is indeed garish and tacky and an example of decadence. Yet both are beautiful in their own way.

>>>Never seen the palace URL. Looks a little garish and tacky.

>A little dismissive, and "pot calling the kettle black" when coming from an American <g>. In essence, though, it is WAY over the top in opulance and decoration and sums up the Prince Regent. Don't you think it looks a little Disneyesque (esp. the outside elevations)? Remember that it was designed by the renowned architect, Nash (him of the fancy Regency fireplaces etc.). We get to pass this pile every day and it never ceases to gob-smack me. At night, all lit up with up-lighters it looks absolutely fabulous. The grounds are a peaceful public park and surrounded by other regency marvels, such as the Dome theatre (which used to be his stables) and the Corn Exchange. Absolutely gorgeous.

>Aye. But like I said, I never noticed the familiar spelling.
