Oak Leaf Enterprises announces its first ON-LINE MM .NET Training from 1-5pm on January 9-13, 2006.

What it covers

This live, online training class is taught by Kevin McNeish, the creator and chief architect of MM .NET. This training has been updated to include new information not presented in previous classes and uses MM .NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005. Here is a list of the topics that are covered:

Day 1: Object-Orientation in MM.NET

This session presents the object-oriented principles and design patterns used in MM .NET and helps you understand how to leverage these patterns in your applications. It covers information including static (shared) members, hook methods, factories, polymorphism, abstract classes, defining and implementing interfaces, as well as detailed information on MM .NET events and data binding.

Day 2: Developing with MM .NET

This session provides in-depth information on developing applications with MM .NET. It includes information on integration with Visual Studio, setting up projects and solutions, extending project and item templates, in-depth debugging with VS 2005, as well as deploying MM NET applications. It also discusses MM .NET Security, Localization, and working with third party controls.

Day 3: Designing and Implementing an MM .NET Business Layer

This session teaches you how to design and implement business objects, business rules and business process objects (SOA) in your applications for maximum scalability, reusability, and extensibility. It also takes a close look at data access techniques including best practices with ADO.NET. Students get hands-on experience as they create business objects using MM .NET.

Day 4: Creating MM.NET Windows Forms Applications

This session provides a very detailed look at building Windows Forms applications with MM .NET. Students learn the ins and outs of Windows Forms programming as well as implementing business objects in desktop applications.

Day 5: Creating MM .NET Web Applications

This session provides a very detailed look at building Web applications with MM .NET. This includes information on programming in the stateless environment of the Web, leveraging the new features of ASP.NET 2.0 as well as using MM .NET business objects in your Web applications.

How it works

The live training class is broadcast directly to your company using Citrix’s www.gotomeeting.com. All you need is a computer with a high speed internet connection and a phone. During each training session you simply connect to the training seminar via the internet and you see the trainer’s computer in a window on your machine. If multiple students at your company want to take the class (Note: Each participant must pay for the class) you can simply hook up a projector to your computer so everyone in the room can see. As the trainer steps through presentations and uses Visual Studio 2005 to create and execute code samples you see it all as it is happening.

For audio hookup, you call into the specified phone number and join a conference call where you can hear the trainer and vice versa. To minimize disruptions, you can post questions in a chat window for the instructor to answer.

All slides used in the training are e-mailed to you about one week before the class begins. You may want to print out these slides for each student so they can take notes during class.

Benefits

  • You save the usual costs of airfare, hotel, food, and rental car to attend a class
  • You have time to absorb information and formulate questions over five days rather than three, long intensive days
  • You aren’t tied up all day in training

Schedule

The class consists of five, four-hour training sessions, 1pm – 5pm Eastern Standard Time on January 9-13.

Cost

The cost for the class is $999 per student, but if you sign up by January 1, 2006 you get the early bird price of $799 per student. Note that if you have multiple students taking the training, each student must pay for the class. In addition to the class registration fee, the number you call for audio hookup is a toll number, so you will be charged on your phone bill at the regular rate of your long distance provider. If you have free unlimited long distance calls, then the call is free.

Signing Up

To sign up for the class, just visit our web site (https://www.oakleafsd.com/index3.htm).

NOTE: We expect the class to fill up VERY quickly so we recommend signing up as soon as possible!
