The views were created using ViewEditor and are stored in what we call our Common database that has all our report views. I would think using SET PATH would be better than changing the default directory. Also, I assume that setting the path before opening a bizobj with a free table that MM would open it just fine. We have never used free tables with bizobjs so I don't have much input.

>>No extinction here... We use some free tables in some of our views. They are generally used when running reports so we prompt the user for the directory where they have them stored and we USE them before the view is opened. The free tables are basically history data that we allow them to pick what period they want to use and we don't update them using MM.

>How did you create views for these tables? Did you store view definition in the main database? We wanted to skip the view and use the first option in Biz Object builder free tables. Seems like we're having some troubles opening saved DE. In our case the free tables are going to be used for Manual Data Entry (most of data comes electronically). Then we're going to use these tables in data load and data import processes. So we need to create new records, update existing records, etc. My first idea was to create a Cursor Adapter class for them. The class will work as is, because all we need is to have our path set correctly (BTW, here I'm having a little question: do I need to use SET PATH or cd (SET DEFAULT) command). Then the CA is going to pick up the correct table. However, there is a little bit of issue of pk. My colleague thinks that using the first option of biz object is a better and simpler idea. Since so far we worked with tables from the database (either views or CA (started
>with my coming here)), the free tables present some challenge. And also we have to finish it till the end of the month not to mention all other problems and work that has to be completed... <g>
