The other alternative to your conclusion is that perhaps I might have even a dim clue what I'm doing? Maybe? That's ok, it's all in good sport I hope :) You didn't know my skill level and that was my fault for not expressing it in my original message. Sorry about that.

Actually, the error 46 occurred BEFORE I began dissection of the VCX to determine the cause of the error. Also, if the number of records for the class differs from the count in Reserved2, VFP presents a different (erroneous) error claiming that something is wrong with the Parent setting. THAT also drove me nuts!
