But I stay by the xontents of what I have written, even though I excuse some of the the formulations I have used. What made me so fed up was the total unfairness and lack of balance in the downtalk of VFP9, and

Unfairness and lack of balance? That was not my evaluation of what Jess wrote.

Knowledge is a relative thing. And how to know whether one is realistic or not? Who is the judge then? This forum is for all who use vfp for their profession. And they are all free to create threads and reply. There is no rule here that one can only post if one has proof of knowing or realism. As I said, the others should react with patience each time again, in 1998, now and in 2008. The same quests, items and themes will recur and recur. And each time 'we' will react asif it's the very first time that someone starts about it. That's not boring, that's living!

>1. How can he comment on a product that is only a few hours old?

Hey, I did not know this. Is SP1 now officially released?

>2. You can not expect a matrix printer to perform well with a graphic engine driving it
>3. All the HP related stuff most likely is caused by terrible HP printer drivers

That's the good thing about the UT. Here we get additional information, from people like you. Personally I did not know that behavior 90 should not be used for matrix printers. Should I have known this? Haven't heard about it in the sessions from Liza and Colin Nicholls.

>Unless something new comes up, I have said what I want to say in this matter, now I want to get familiar with SP1, the final version.

>>Tore,

>>I disagree with how you have written things down here and to Jess. This is a forum where we not only ask for help, but also express our opinions and ask others to reflect. That's exactly what Jess did. He asks us whether or not we agree with him. The appropriate reaction should be 'arguments and facts'. Your reaction should have been very to the point if you would have sticked to that. But you didn't. You also expressed that you think low of Jess. And I fully disagree when you write: If you don't know what you are talking about, you should shut up. This is really too much for my stomach. Are you saying that only the proclaimed gurus are entitled to express their opinions here? Hope not. No, those gurus should react on these threads with arguments and facts, not with comments like 'fed up'.
>>
>>>I repeat that I did not this personally, but I may have expressed myself in a way which could indicate something else. My reference to technical level was based upon the huge number of thread about all kinds of problems with HP printer drivers, and the lack of understanding that report behaviour 90 means "set graphics on" litterally. Grapchics and matrix printers are not "compatible", so complaining about this tells me that this guy doesn't have a clue at all what he is talking about. It's like saying that your new car has little horsepower when you use diesel, even though it was made for gasoline. If you don't know what you are talking about, you should shut up, that's my opinion.

>>>>Well, our definition of taking something personally must be quite different. Your statement above proves, at least to me, that you have taken it personally. Jess appears to have stated his opinion - he has posted here for several years; I don't think he has any lower technical knowledge than you have; the number of bugs fixed numbering 200 is not gossip, its how many the SP claims to have fixed. I am unsure what "other doubtfull facts" you refer to? As to his opinion as to the "state of play" with Fox 9, its just that; his opinion.
