Yeah, I do those "shot in the dark" answers every once in awhile myself. They occasionally come back to haunt me. <g>

However, I *did* already know that a "real" property (with get/set) was needed with databinding, what I wasn't sure about was whether it could be static or not, so I needed to try out that part for myself.

Plus, in messing with it, I also see that the property itself can't be static. In fact, it doesn't work at all without an instantiated class (I got compiler errors), so I'm not sure how Pete got his example to even compile.
