I have a system where I need to embed icons into text. It is a system of wayfinding directions. "Walk down the corridor. Take a left at the [X] sign." With [X] being a graphical representation of the sign. I'm trying to find the best way to implement this, and I suspect it is some sort of ActiveX, but I am most certainly open to other methods.

We considered a custom font with the signs as characters, but that isn't really practical.

I have looked at rich text but am concerned about memo file corruption.

I have also tried to work with HTML via the Internet Explorer ActiveX, but it seems to have some issues. I can't seem to get rid of the border around the box or the scrollbar, which ruins the formatting of the form (specific advice on this would be more than welcome).

I'm looking for other ideas to consider. Any suggestions (no matter how unconventional) would be welcome. I'm currently using VFP8, but if there is something that would require an upgrade to VFP9, I think I could sell that to my supervisors.

Thanks in advance,
Eric
