- AV will slow things down; how does VFP respond to file system slowdowns?
- I'm always suspicious of processes that hook into file system access. Are they buggy under heavy load such as can be applied by a long-running data-munging VFP app?
Another thing I forgot to mention earlier is index corruption. I've seen this cause ICEs. Sometimes REINDEX can help but often the corruption is subtle and can be fixed only by completely deleting the index tags and rebuilding them from scratch.
