>ActiveX data binding has to be supported before we can even think about this. OTOH, I wonder if anyone has tried setting the control source of an ActiveX control to the value of a field object in an ADO record set? Maybe ADO actually gives us limited ActiveX data binding. > >>> One might also wonder why the VFP beta concluded so early when VB and VJ are still deep in beta and VS shipping has been delayed until September. > I would assume (probably incorrectly ... but let's assume) that VFP6 and ADO bind correctly to ActiveX controls. Yeah!!! The trouble is ActiveX controls constantly crash, lock, screw-up the screen, etc in VFP. Having ActiveX controls that can data bind but utilizing unstable controls in VFP doesn't solve anything. Thus if Microsoft hasn't solved the instability of ActiveX controls in VFP6, and MS is telling developers to use ActiveX controls, ADO data binding to ActiveX controls is useless in VFP6. I used an product called Dynamicube (analysis grid) in VFP5. Just the most excellant end-user analysis tool a manager could have. Brings financial data together easily. Even did nonbinding data loads. Just one thing, VFP5 and the control was too unstable and crashed randomly. Had to create the dataset VFP and then run VB to use Dynamicube. (VB was too slow to gather and massage the data with.) Will VFP every work with ActiveX controls without crashing?
