C0000005 errors and any other issues with automating excel now solved!

I write my excel file as xml using the spreadsheetml format.

foxpro just does fputs, excel is never even opened and the saved file (named as .xls) opens in excel without any indication that it is not excels native format.

it's less code than automating aswell.
