Know what you mean. I inherited a database where the bus stops for a route were in a list of fields, 1-110 in the route record. I pointed out to the boss that there is a lot of waste where there are only a few stops, or would be problems where there are more than 110. I was assured there never would be.
Later created a form for importing stops from and ASCII hierarchical text file. Prog soon crashed when it encountered a route with 135 stops. Having developed a whole new system on the old db, it came back to bite me in the nads. :-)
