Here you will find them... at the ends of short runways, as a means of dramatically slowing a plane without significant damage.
They meansure abut 6 x 6 x 6 (feet) and are very light. In fact they float.

Saw this last few days on Discovery. Touted as a big invention involving lots of research $$$ over 5 years and so very expensive!!!!
