In a few special cases yes. But computers have speeded up much more in the years since DOS reigned, so the difference is insignificant compared to that. Much can be gained (if you have a program written for FPD/FPW) if you set memory accordingly in vfp.
Probably basic optimizing can gain you much more speed as well <bg>.
