The problem is the internal spying revealed by the NY Times. There are too many people who've put their faith in the administration, as one should be able to do. And they not feel used.

People were misled about Iraq, they were told the domestic spying that's occurred wouldn't occur if they approved of the patriot act, and then we have the stories of torture.

I was listening to an interview with the guy who wrote the story of Bush in a Bubble in this week's Newsweek. I'm sure Bush believes he's making the right call. However, he's making his calls with a bare minimum of input.

I've read several stories over the years comparing different presidential styles. I think his administration is going to be used for many, many years as an example.

>You are correct, it hasn't affected me directly. But then, I've had to deal with the nightmare of government regulations on other levels, so it doesn't seem much different to me.

>The thing, I think, that people forget too easily is that we are not dealing with agents of a foreign government. This is a much different kind of enemy, one that has already struck - and struck hard - on our own soil. There is a degree of "look at what I'm doing for you" to anything that Congress does, certainly - SOX is a great example of that - but on the whole I think the PA gives the gummint at least some of the tools it needs to deal with the threat.
