It seems like it may be V6 because you are using tables in the form's DE. If you are using V7, then you should really be using a Codemine DataEnv (CDE).

Hi....indeed I may well be mixing the syntax...(sign of desperation :-) especially the SELECT statement ) and I would, of course, prefer the cm data object syntax.

I'm using the latest of everything, I think.....VFP 9.0 version 2142 and CodeMine 8.0.B3

This is an older application, which has been succesively upgraded from CM6 through 8; I'm using the VFP data enviroment (didn't create a specific CM data environment for the app, as I understand that the native data environment is transmorgrified to a CM data environment at runtime. )
