FWIW, I tried your description and got the same results. A called EXE file stays in list of Computer Management - Open Files even when it's no longer used.

Have you tried CLEAR PROGRAM when the called EXE is finished?

I run all EXE's from the local computer and keep shared DBF's on the server. When a workstation starts it checks for new EXE's on server and copies them if they need updating.
