>>Anyway, I just did a check for Texas in their Chart and according to that, Texas has no requirement for background checks on either dealer or private gun sales, no waiting period, and guns may be purchased by people under the age of 18. True? False? If true, then IMHO, there is a problem. If false, then these people should be outed real quick.

>I believe at one time it may have legal for persons over 16 to purchase shotguns. But I may be wrong, and that certainly wasn't the case when I grew up. Regardless, see http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/StateLaws.aspx?ST=TX

>"It is unlawful to sell, rent, loan or give a handgun to any person if it is known that the person intends to use it unlawfully. It is unlawful to knowingly sell, rent, give or offer to sell, rent or give any firearm to a person under 18 years of age, without the written consent of his parent or guardian. It is unlawful to knowingly or recklessly sell any firearm or ammunition to any person who is intoxicated."

Tracy posted the site for the gun laws of NC, and it appears that their report is, shall we say, tainted with a modicum of bias, to be polite about it.

That paragraph above is a beaut though "if it is known that the person intends to use it unlawfully'???? You mean that you can't sell a gun to someone who comes in and says "I need a gun to rob a bank with, please."
