>The Federal building that was bombed in Oklahoma City killed a bunch of people - no guns involved. 9/11 killed a bunch of people - no guns. People kill thousands each year with autos, yet no one is calling for the abolition of guns. Canada doesn't allow private citizens to own handguns, yet they are experiencing crime at the hands of thugs with handguns. It isn't the gun. Criminals will always have guns and will use them unless they are locked away.

A poor defense. Revoking rights for owning a gun won't solve all killings, but al least would reduce the number of causulties significantly. Too many accidents happen with guns. You still did not answer why the relative number of murders in for example washington DC which is about the size of amsterdam still is about 10 times as high as the latter.

>I am a gun owner and have strapped a pistol on every day for the last 31 years. I've never killed anyone. I also have taught everyone in my family to use them and handle them safely. We regularly shoot skeet and my son and I HUNT.

I assume you are trained to handle a gun, when to draw your gun and when not. Normal civilians do not have that training. As for hunting, A friend of mine used to hunt, but he was not allowed to get the rifle outside of the house unless he went straigth to the hunting ground or straight back to home. Once in a while the police comes down to check how the rifle was stored. When he quit hunting the police collected the gun for destruction.

We too have criminals that somehow got a gun, but in general they won't shoot to kill unless it is an issue between two criminals. In most cases the murdered do have a criminal background. If you are faced with a criminal that points a gun at you, the best thing you could do is doing what the criminal asks you to do. Drawing a gun yourself is going to lead to bloodflow.
