I recommend to everyone Dick Morris's latest "Condi vs Hillary". Morris knows Hillary well - very very well - and has made it his mission in life to see she never ever sets foot in the White House again. Does an interesting ( and as always, well-informed,) analysis of the Dem 2008 climate and says she has a lock on the nomination - based primarily on having sewed up the big money interests that ARE the Democratic party, for purposes of getting the nomination. Says if GOP put up a generic suit ( Frist et al ) they will lose.

Enter the (wo)man on a white horse.

I for one would be very pleased to see Condi Rice in the White House in the big chair in 2009. I wanted her as SS or SecDef in 1988 and on the ticket in 2000. And she could definitely beat Hillary. The only question is could they convince her to do it.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
