This allows me to use multiple data sources in one document. I can have "mergefields" reference one table and the {database} command reference a different table. Just wanted to be clear

Thanks for the clarification - this is very different from the way I do things. You may want to check out my white papaer and sample code fromt he session I gave on Office Automation. You can find it on the downloads page of my web site. It has an example of data-driving a mail merge. The mail merge, howver, works a lot differently than yours....
