>Pointing out flaws and inconsistencies is not "twisting your words".

You're nitpicking, debating words and select phrases instead of the meaning of how they are presented. My arguements are only inconsistant in your eyes.

>According to your argument, LAWs, Apache helicopter gunships and suitcase fission bombs are tools as well. Oh, but earlier you said LAWs are a no-no, presumably you're not in favour of private ownership of these other "tools" either. So somehow these three things are more than just "tools" and need some sort of "special treatment".

Find where I have said that. Firearms, Al, we are talking about firearms. Rifles, pistols, shotguns. You're twisting words again.

>What it really boils down to is "where you draw the line". You say (some) firearms are OK for Joe Average to own, I disagree. It's unlikely we're going to see eye-to-eye on this.

That's fine. I have no problem with you having your own opinion.

>You started this thread with a comment on Canadian response to the latest gun violence in Toronto. You wondered how our politicians could be so stupid as to believe the US has anything to do with it. Well, for a start, there's a good chance the gun(s) used were manufactured in the US.

If you knew anything about firearms you would see that statement to be incorrect. Do you have any hard information regarding the manufacturers of the weapons involved? Major handgun makers are found in Brazil, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Spain, not to mention the imports from the Eastern Block.

>If they'd been stopped at the border a 15 year old girl would be alive today.

Ah...so, perhaps there's some flaws with your border-crossing procedures?

Look - I feel for you guys up there, I really do. Any spike in murder rates is not a good thing. But I think that trying to place the blame on the US and our so-called "gun culture" is misleading and potentially damaging, both to Canadian-US relations and to your population as a whole. Your pols are trying hard NOT to fix the real problems.
