Some nothing saying facts IMO, you have to see the full statistics to have a factual overview, and even then it takes a statistician to draw definite conclusions. Listing just a few facts does not make a balanced and honenst overview. Again you can make statistics lie.

>The one above, while compiled to support gun control, actually leans the opposite or presents no case either way to me. When I look at the statistics between Canada and the U.S. which includes the number of firearms and the number of deaths and accidents from firearms - the statistics don't support the argument. for isntance, the U.S. had 30 times more firearms than Canada and 63 times more handguns but only 1.5 times the number of accidental deaths from firearms, 1.9 times the number of suicides with firearms and 2.7 times the total deaths by firearms. 7.9 times the number of murders with firearms, 14.5 times the number of murders with handguns, 1.8 times the number of murders without guns. In 1998 the U.S. had 8.9 times the population of Canada. the overall homicide rate per 100,000 was 3.6x higher, 2.4 times higher with firearms and 1.6 times higher with handguns.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. In all statistics the rates are various times worse than in Canada.

for isntance, the U.S. had 30 times more firearms than Canada and 63 times more handguns but only 1.5 times the number of accidental deaths from firearms

Please recheck your statistics. The 30 times is total number of guns, not per capita. The difference is 3.3 times per capita. The number of accidental death is a RATE PER 100.000. If you divide the 3.3 by 1.5, you are temped to draw the conlcusion that accidents happen about 2 times as much in Canada, but this might be a wrong conclusion as it really depends on how many times people do have a gun in their hand. Esspecially when households have more than one guns, it is easy to draw improper conclusions.

If you realise the numbers, it is not difficult to see that the numbers are way worse for the US in rates per 100.000. This article indeed makes a case for gun control.
