We get those too, same time frame. Way overdue for one. Last really bad one I remember was in 1996, I got caught in it on my way to San Antonio in a truck with no heater. THAT was fun.
Although last year it snowed on Christmas Eve. Not enough to stick, but it was unusual enough to bring everyone in the neighborhood out. First time it's happened that I can recall.
