I finally found my construct by googling "simple DHTML JavaScript treeview". The I found was titled "simple treeview". Classed anchor tags do the dynamics. What seems cool to a novice like me is that properties can be added just by writing the script. Even variable names can be assembled or macro-d with JS's eval() function. The guy that wrote it is Danish - node clicker is only 8 lines of code! He wrote in in 2001 - I am behind the times!
