>>Look Howard. It's sad you were brought up blinkered in some bible bashing belt or whatever you guys call it. It's you who wants to challenge your beliefs. Just go out to Colorado and look at the sedimentary rocks in the valleys. Then explain that as God sprinkled it all down in pretty multi-coloured layers, patting it all down between, on day 2 was it?
>>Look at the chalk Downs near where I live, hundreds of feet thick (once the bottom of an ocean), and study some under a microscope, and see the tiny shells of trillions of dead sea creatures that comprise it. Then explain how God made THIS rock with creatures that he hadn't even created yet, for Godssakes!
>>
>>Now then. Do I believe in God? That's a different matter. What I don't believe in is the tripe laid down in the OT, and I'm skeptical to say the least about the Gospels.

>That's what I mean. With a little investigation you would know that Mt. Saint Helens is a prime example of this stratification that was made in a very short time: http://nwcreation.net/mtsthelens.html and this:http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs2005/0628enquirer.asp

Oh come on! I can see that. I was alive when the last few strata were laid. But there were no volcanoes around Colorado to suddenly cataclysmically deposit them there. It was the river cutting through millions of years of deposits. Yeah there's also the channeled Scablands of the Columbia Plateau, whose channelling and strata were formed in (geologically speakling) a very short time by immense flooding. But their existence doesn't derogate accepted knowledge of the rest of the world's geology. Your St Helens does not explain chalk (and if you look at the chalk cliffs you can see the strata therein too!)

>Like you said, we've been through all this before. I give up! You win!

Aw, c'mon. You win too if I've made you see the light! :-)
