Somesh,
BTW don't take it wrong. We all have tried to protect our software. In years what I learned worst one was the schemas that are bound to changeable physical media (especially if it's old and they call you only after replacing and possibly throwing the old one away).
PS: A dongle (I don't make any comment about its reliability against cracking) is a cheaper solution IMHO if you calculate it with developer hours of creating a protection. In 20+ years I had to at least change/combine 10+ protection ways. Hope I don't need a new one:)

>>>Hi,
>>>I am searching for a solution for registration problem.
>>>I have found one solution using HD Serial Number (NOT Volume number) of the machine by using an API.
>>>OS in my machine is Win Xp and it is working fine but on a machine having OS Win 98, it is not returning the HD Serial Number.
>>>Can anyone please tell me how to retrive Hard Disk Serial Number in OS prior to Win Xp like Win 98, Win Me and Win NT? Which API can be used for that.

>>I don't understand what registration problem has to do with HDD serial number. As I said if you mean protection HDD serial wouldn't be much help to you. Try ethernet card address then.
>>Anyway it's your decision (I wouldn't rely on changeable parts - if you do that be prepared for support calls even years after).
