Yep, I do. And while it is 'a little radical', it is a fair point. What I'm talking about is authorities like the transit authority taking some action when someone is 'out of line'. I doubt a loud tie would qualify, but I think that loud ipods, muddy feet on seats, too much perfume, might. If the transit authorities think not, then they, being in charge, win.

There are actually areas where perfume has been outlawed in offices etc. One of the east coast areas in Canada has such a law (I can't recall if it's Halifax or not).

Maybe a referendum might be a good way to go. A question of 'Check off any activities that should be be deemed fineable' followed by a list of 'bad behaviour' activities - including littering etc. Then at least society as a whole would be able to voice their opinions. And then, if the police fine people for those activities they will have the backing of a majority of the population.
