Hi Gray,
>i'm having the same problem. not quite 10min to open a project but a good 2 or 3 which is not good. i thought about trying to move a copy of the vss database local and seeing if that sped it up but i havn't had time. i also plan on trying it on a machine with a faster network connection to see if it made a differece, havn't had time to do that either. i guess i'm spending all my time waiting for vss. i've noticed that everything is slowed down when in source safe, saving files, compiling ... overall, i think the benefits of sourcesafe outweigh the lack of speed. if you figure out how to make it faster, please let me know.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I just started using VSS with another developer on their network. We installed VSS as directed loaded every folder into VSS to create VSS "projects" and assigned working directories. We check out the files as we need to work on them and check them back in. We then "refresh" our working directories when needed to test each others work. Things are working fine. What I'm confused about is that you state you are actually editing, saving, and compiling from inside of VSS? I wasn't aware this could be done. How and why would I want to use VSS in this manor?
TIA,
Jacci
