Greg, thanks. I did as you suggested, and I get exactly the same error. I checked the registry and found that Word.Application and Word.Application.11 both point to Word.Application.11
AHA!!! Then I checked the information under the guid and discovered that the default under "InProcServer32" was "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Script Blocking\ScrBlock.dll". Excel's guid did not have that default, so I removed it, and the world is once again spinning in greased grooves. It's that damned Symantec again. I swear they think they own my computer.
