>>>Jos, in your search for pda development tools, did you encounter any product that's cheaper than 'windev mobile'?

>>I rarely use price as the influencing factor for development work. To me WinDev looks absolutely awesome. Read the PDF spec sheets and ask for a trial version. I think the price is reasonable for what is offered. I am waiting for them to do final documentation translation to English for the Mobile version and will then definitely buy it.

>I know your opinion about pricing and understand your logic. But 1000-2000 dollars for a development product is really a lot and justifies a search for cheaper products. Also, it may be the case that this (expensive) product offers more than is needed by someone. Haven't you searched for other pda-devtools?

Its not cheap but if it does the job then ... Try the trial version, ask for referrals, ask for clients in Holland. There is also a forum where you can ask questions.

iro other PDA tools - if the price is too high you can go .Net. But WinDev has the added benefit (imho) of its own local data engine combined with a high level language, like VFP. This feature and the way in which VFP can interact with the data is something I use all the time and WinDev supports that type of data handling. Its a platform that is clearly data oriented. It appeals to me.
