I'm fairly impressed with my new health plan. I have MedCost Preferred, and just yesterday I had to visit an urgent care center, and the total cost was only $10 (copay). The cost for someone off the street would have been $635 for all that was done. Same thing with my scripts. $10 each for a 30-day supply. Plus, if I want to do mail order for 90-day supplies, it would come out to about $4 per script for the same 30-day supply. Not bad for something I pay about $40 a month for.

>My maximum out of pocket expense for emergency room and hospital stay and surgery is 100.00 total for all three (not 100.00/each) but that is only because of my health insurance that I pay a premium for each month. There is always the question as to whether or not the surgery would be considered necessary or would be authorized. I have heard on tv cases where permission for surgery was denied because the surgery was considered still under research or experimental and some patients have even died. In those cases though there was no quarantee that the experimental surgery would have saved the patients life.
