Oh, come on, Daniel, they were just *kidding around*. Jeeesh, you parade around in the the street just a little bit shouting "Death to America" and the next thing you know the stupid Americans are getting all jumpy.

After 9/11 the Palestinians ( who had favored Saddam in the Gulf War ) were dancing in the streets. I remember watching news footage with a friend from The Old Days. An earnest commentator was asking "How do you reply to this outpouring on the 'Arab Street'" He just growled "Helicopter gunships"

I have a feeling the Iranians may soon wish they had dialed down the rhetoric a tad. It would seem you wouldn't have to be a strategic genius to realize that Israel - already a nuclear power - still has a pretty big R&D budget and bunker busters really aren't that complicated ...

>THE FORMER IRAQI REGIME OF Saddam Hussein trained thousands of radical Islamic terrorists from the region at camps in Iraq over the four years immediately preceding the U.S. invasion, according to documents and photographs recovered by the U.S. military in postwar Iraq. The existence and character of these documents has been confirmed to THE WEEKLY STANDARD by eleven U.S. government officials.

>Anybody else besides me remember the shots of the black-uniformed fedayeen shown parading in Baghdad just before the invasion?

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
