>It probably wouldn't travel very well. There was something about Andy's folksy, easygoing ways that epitomized the innocence of America in the 1950s. Andy's memorable sidekick was his perpetually alarmed deputy, Barney Fife, played by Don Knotts. Barney was so jittery Andy only let him carry one bullet, and that one he had to keep in his shirt pocket. He was always reaching for it in response to minor small-town rumpuses. (Those must have been some of his spiritual descendents down in Florida on Friday, but never mind). Another of the principals was Andy's son Opie, who grew up to be the movie director Ron Howard. Among the other characters were Aunt Bea, Floyd the barber, Gomer, and Goober. It was an innocent time here, the end of our innocence really.
