>>>Like I said to John - never heard of these guys. Talking of household names - whatever happened to Jethroe Bodine and Ely May Clamppet (Jethroe's catch-phrase, like Will Stockdale's "permanent latrine orderly" was "I got a sixth-grade education!" :-) ?

>Lord, that was a dumb show. My childhood was littered with dumb shows like "Beverly Hillbillies", "Run, Buddy, Run", "Bewitched", "F Troop", "The Flying Nun", "Gomer Pyle", "Gilligan's Island", and (forgive me) "My Mother the Car". Honestly, the classiest show I can remember watching before becoming a teenager was "The Man From Uncle", and that was a pretty dumb show, too. Newton Minow did have a point.

Of those, only saw "Beverly Hillbillies", "Bewitched", "F Troop" and "My Mother the Car". ("a 1928 Porter - that's my mother dear - she helps me through ev'vry thing I do - and I'm so glad she's here..." :-) and, of course TMFU.

Yeah they were dumb - but not the Beverly Hillbillies. I remember an episode where Ely May was dating a body builder and the whole family were concerned about his terrible condition where his body was all bloated up. And didn't Jethroe start a car cleaning service by dipping the cars in the "CEE-MENT pond". And using the snooker table to dine off with them "fancy eatin' irons" and using the cues to pass the skillet - priceless!
