I have heard that someone has pushed VFP GUIs to a dumb terminal.

There is FoxBase (but it is DOS like) - it's still pushes a lot of UNIX work. There is Flagship (translator) and dBase (native UNIX runtimes) Google FPW UNIX WINE - I am sure it can be done.
